KARIS COLLEGE

Karis College exists to make disciples of Mid-MIssouri’s college students by engaging them in local church discipleship and equipping them to take the gospel onto their campus.

When classes are in session, the city of Columbia is home to over 30,000 college students. Between Mizzou, Columbia College, Stephens College, and several other schools around Mid-Missouri, our city is filled with a population from all over the country and all over the globe. As a local church in a college town, Karis has a unique opportunity and responsibility to minister to these young adults.

On campus, Karis College engages with students in a way that is complimentary to the local church. We gather as an expression of Karis Church, inviting students into a gospel community on mission to them and their peers. As a community, we are devoted to the Word, to prayer, to eating together, and to sharing our lives with one another.

We value:

  • The Great Commission: Making disciples is King Jesus’ ultimate command to his people. We exist as a ministry to carry the good news of Jesus into the world, which begins with engaging nonbelievers with the gospel and continues in training believers in the gospel.

  • The Local Church: Students need a local body of believers characterized by biblical leadership, participation in the ordinances, relational discipleship, and gospel diversity. Students need more than just another “Christian extra-curricular.”

  • Leadership Development: College is a period of life for learning, training, and doing. Alongside their scholastic work, students should understand how they have been gifted by the Holy Spirit to serve the church and empowered to explore God’s calling for their lives.

Karis College gathers weekly on campus in addition to engaging in the regular rhythms of Karis Church. Plus, join us for special events like our annual mission trip (Spring Break in Brazil, anyone?)!
