Scripture & Science

Too often in our modern world, the discipline of science is pitted against the truth and authority of God’s word in the Bible. This can cause some uncomfortable tensions and situations:

  • Sometimes traditionally-minded followers of Jesus feel ill-equipped to engage with topics that emerge in modern scientific fields (like biology, genetics, psychology or geology).

  • Sometimes experts in scientific fields feel unwelcomed or looked down upon in a church setting.

  • Sometimes faithful believers are run off by their churches because they refused to settle for simple answers to complex questions.

None of this should be so.

This Sunday, Feb. 22, as a part of our new sermon series through Genesis, we’ll spend a whole morning thinking about the intersection of Scripture & Science. We will see why this is a topic that followers of Jesus shouldn’t just overlook. We will think about how followers of Jesus can hold firm to biblical truth while also being humble and gracious to fellow believers with different understandings and approaches. We will marvel at the fact that God has revealed himself to humanity through both the world he has created, as well as the words that he has inspired.

We invite you to join us this week – if you are a new or long-time follower of Jesus, someone who considers themselves religious or skeptical, or someone who has long had good questions that deserve to be met with a thoughtful response.
