After eating breakfast at the pousada, our friends Mateus and Alessandra escorted the whole team to Complexo de Alemão.

Here we rode the cable car, which is a regular method of transportation for many members of the community.

The cable car goes on for as far as the eye can see.

We met a group of kids at the top. The one in the center was quite the performer and he entertained us with his English skills.

After lunch we headed into Cidade de Deus (the City of God) to do the first of a three-day Vacation Bible School for the local kids. This is a pretty rough part of Rio, filled with violence and neglect, but hospitality can still be found in this place. We were obviously out of place here, but we ran into many smiles and lots of children who were glad to see us.

We left that night full of joy which had only overflowed to us from the children. We finished the night with a great meal as a team (along with Eric Papp and Suzana Louro) and then headed back, once again, to the pousada to get some rest.
