Reaching out to our neighbors with school supplies

Think back to your school days and remember the smell of freshly sharpened pencils and brand new pink erasers. There's some excitement to collecting what you need to start a new school year, but buying school supplies can become expensive and challenging to some families. That's why both our Columbia and Jefferson City campuses will be helping put new school supplies in the hands of children this Saturday, August 6, 2016.

In Jefferson City, we will serve the city at a Back to School Fair held at South Elementary School. This event helps to provide children from low-income homes with the supplies they need for school. In addition to school supplies, there will be other services offered to families, such as haircuts and meal vouchers.

In Columbia, we’ll be hosting our own event, Kamp Karis, a fun-filled day for children from the neighborhoods around our building, from Kindergarten through 6th grade. In addition to the school supplies drive, they will enjoy outdoor games and other activities, lunch, and a gospel presentation.

Both events give us practical and Christ-centered opportunities to love our neighborhoods, taking the gospel on mission to the people around us with the help of pencils and erasers.

If you would like to volunteer with either event, we can still use your help. Please contact us and let us know which city you wish to serve in.
