Karis church is a church the longs to see the gospel reach the ends of the earth. We are a church that believes in churches planting churches. One of the ways we put that vision into action is continuing to send out missionaries to partner with other church plants across the world. Drew and Megumi Glosson currently serve as missionaries to Japan and are partnered with Soma Fuchu in the heart of Tokyo, Japan. Below is a recent update from Drew and Meg. Would you pray for God's work in Japan?Read More
In 2010, Karis sent our first short-term team to serve in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with Jay Bauman and Restore Brazil. Karis currently supports two full-time missionaries, Jessica Fleshman and Eric Papp, who serve with Restore Brazil. As a body, we strive to actively support and pray for the missionaries we have sent out. Would you read these updates and consider how you could be involved in God's work in Brazil?Read More
Watch as one of our elders, Billy Glosson, talks about why Karis Church cares about church planting and what it means for him and his wife, Hannah:
I spent this past week with Amy at the annual Acts 29 Retreat. One of the speakers used the term "gospel goodbyes" in reference to sending out brothers and sisters to plant churches. Karis Church recently experienced this with Drew and Megumi Glosson. We said goodbye to them. But as that speaker also said, that time of separation is short in light of eternity. There is also joy now, as we see the gospel move from our little church in Mid-Missouri to the land of the rising sun. There will be overwhelming joy later as we worship the risen Lamb together forever and ever. Yes, it's difficult when people you love move to the other side of the globe (my children have expressed this hurt much this past year). But it's far better to be a part of God's work as He is committed to His glory covering the earth as the waters cover the sea (Hab. 2:14).
Drew and Megumi moved to become a part of Soma Fuchu. During our four vision trips to Japan, we prayed for partners to whom we could send the Glossons. The Lord answered that prayer in guiding us to Yoshito Noguchi and Steve Sakanashi. Their vision for multiplying missional communities all over Tokyo fits very well with our vision here. I've gotten to know them, and I trust their hearts. At that retreat, I got to spend some time with Yoshi. What a godly, humble man! God is good.
We also rejoiced as the Lord provided a home for the Glossons. It's not easy to rent a house in Tokyo, and especially for less than $1000 a month. However, God provided this place, right in the heart of their target area, Fuchu. He is faithful!
Pray for Drew and Meg and their son, Takumi. Meg is about to have their second son. Imagine moving to Tokyo and almost immediately having a baby! In addition, the Glossons are still in need of monthly support. You can give here. Also, Jeremy and Leanna Grove of Karis Church are also raising funds to join them. Support them here.
