Josh Zeichik, Karis Church elder and campus pastor for Karis Jeff City, shares a few thoughts after the first Gathering of Karis Jeff City in their new space:
This past Sunday, March 8, 2015, Karis Jeff City launched.
What does that even mean? Well, for us, it means that we started holding our Sunday Gatherings outside of our living room and in a more publicly accessible space.
And, by all accounts, it was a truly encouraging time.
Our core group was ‘"all hands on deck," as they got to our new space early to set up. And although I apparently don’t know how to make coffee without overflowing the machine, we really didn't have any major difficulties with getting everything up and running for our first public Gathering.
There were a lot of new things that occurred this past Sunday: new space to meet in, new places to park, new signs to direct people, new sound equipment to learn, and a new computer to check our kids into their new classroom!
But in many ways, the core of what we experienced as a church was not new. We gathered together as always, heard the Scriptures preached as always, worshiped through prayer and song as usual, gave our offerings, and partook of communion just like we do every week.
So, while I am so excited that we launched, I am more excited about the things that we are not changing: the message we preach about Jesus, the commitment to share in community with one another, and our commitment to live as missionaries in our city and to the world.
If you live in the Jeff City area, we welcome you to join us as we gather at 10am every Sunday at 400 E. High St, Jefferson City, MO.
